We are seeking a skilled Backend QA Engineer to ensure the quality of our backend systems through comprehensive testing. You will work remotely from Europe and collaborate closely with the development team.
Location: Remote from Europe Reporting to: Head of Back-end Development
Your mission is to analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories to create thorough test cases and scenarios. You will perform end-to-end testing of transaction lifecycles, from initiation and authorization to settlement and reconciliation. Additionally, you will validate data accuracy and consistency across systems using SQL queries on relational databases, and manually test REST APIs with tools like Postman to verify transaction requests and responses. Defects will be logged, tracked, and managed in Jira with clear reproduction steps, screenshots, and logs. You will also conduct regression testing after deployments and proactively explore the platform for edge cases, risks, and performance issues.
Requirements
- 4+ years of manual testing experience focusing on web applications and backend validation.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright for writing and maintaining automated test suites.
- Domain experience in iGaming, Fintech, payment gateways, or banking platforms.
- Proficiency in writing intermediate SQL queries to validate data in relational databases.
- Experience with API testing tools (Postman) and test management tools such as TestRail or Zephyr.
- Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting UAT with business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks or basic scripting knowledge.
- Background working with PHP-based platforms or similar backend environments.
