As a software developer at Headlands Tech, you will design, engineer, and implement the Firm’s trading software using C++. You will collaborate closely with research, systems, and operations teams to architect, implement, and analyze new automated electronic trading algorithms. Your role will be crucial in constructing the Firm’s software infrastructure to support both new and existing business lines, while also enhancing the Firm’s proprietary research platform to improve performance and accommodate new exchanges, products, and functionalities.

The Role

As a C++ Software Developer, you will take on various tasks related to developing and maintaining a large-scale automated trading system, including:

Building, maintaining, and enhancing exchange connectivity.

•

Leveraging existing infrastructure and extending functionality as needed.

•

Gaining a deep understanding of exchange behavior to integrate into the trading system.

•

Maintaining and extending core research infrastructure.

•

Designing, implementing, and maintaining distributed storage systems with varying performance and reliability requirements.

•

Addressing performance limitations in software, open-source libraries, and applications.

•

Investigating new technologies to enhance stability, scalability, and performance.

•

Collaborating with research and operations teams to implement new trading strategies.

•

Extending the strategy framework to enable new behaviors and improve existing ones.

•

Reconciling performance differences between simulation and production trading strategies.

•

Optimizing the performance of the live trading system and measuring latency and throughput.

•

Developing new algorithms to address performance limitations at higher abstraction layers.

•

Implementing low-level networking protocols and ensuring the stability and reliability of the trading system.
