We are looking for an experienced COBOL Developer to support the maintenance and evolution of critical banking applications within a regulated environment.
The Role
You will provide end-to-end application maintenance, including defect fixing, incident resolution, and root cause analysis. Your responsibilities will also include supporting legacy systems built in COBOL within mainframe or hybrid architectures and delivering minor enhancements while contributing to technical debt reduction initiatives. Collaboration with cross-functional teams (Java, .NET, frontend) across a microservices and legacy ecosystem is essential.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive application maintenance, including defect fixing and incident resolution.
- Support legacy systems built in COBOL within mainframe or hybrid architectures.
- Deliver minor enhancements and contribute to technical debt reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across a microservices and legacy ecosystem.
- Handle tickets via ServiceNow/Jira and participate in release and deployment support.
- Ensure compliance with security, data protection, and banking regulations.
Requirements
- Strong COBOL development experience in legacy or mainframe environments.
- Proven background in application maintenance (support, incidents, enhancements).
- Experience working in regulated environments, ideally in financial services.
- Familiarity with SQL/databases (Oracle or PostgreSQL).
- Experience with ServiceNow or Jira ticketing systems.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Java/Spring Boot or modern backend ecosystems.
- Experience integrating legacy systems with microservices architectures.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- German language skills.
