De Rol

As a Dock Operator, you will work in a team of about eleven people, consisting of dock coordinators, dockmasters, and dock machinists. The role of a Dock Operator/Dockmaster is unique and requires physical fitness, availability outside regular working hours, and a corresponding mentality, accuracy, and safety awareness. At Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam, you will start as a Dock Operator, but with the right drive and mentality, you can certainly grow into a Dockmaster.

Your tasks as a Dock Operator will primarily focus on guiding the docking (dry-docking) and undocking of ships, offshore constructions, and other floating objects. While the docking procedure takes place, you will mainly be engaged in operating and maintaining the docks. You will work with both dry and floating docks ranging from 150 to 405 meters in length, at our locations in Botlek and Schiedam.

In the role of Dock Operator, you will be responsible for:

In addition to the above responsibilities, various technical and supportive tasks will be carried out.

•

Operating various dock installations, such as dock doors, hydraulic systems, pumps, generators, and compressors, contributing to the safe docking and undocking of ships.

•

Assisting in the preparation of dock plans for the safe and efficient docking of ships based on dimensions, weight, draft, and trim.

•

Preparing dock operations, including positioning keel and side blocks and executing the complete docking procedure.

•

Implementing temporary provisions for docked ships, such as fire extinguishing, ballast water, lighting, communication, and access facilities.

•

Performing first-line maintenance on docks, installations, and tools to ensure good condition and safety.
