Splunk is seeking a talented technologist to join the Office of the Field CTO as a founding Innovation Engineer. This is a pivotal role that combines deep Splunk platform expertise with market foresight, aimed at translating cutting-edge innovations into actionable narratives for global operationalization.

The Role

You will be instrumental in guiding Splunk’s strategic enterprise customers through the transformative impacts of innovation in security, observability, and AI. Collaborating closely with Field CTOs, AI Solutions Architects, and senior specialists, you will create compelling content that articulates the value of Splunk’s innovations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to align on Splunk’s innovation strategy and contribute field intelligence to roadmap discussions.
• Develop narratives and artifacts that communicate how Splunk’s platform and AI innovations lead to significant customer outcomes.
• Author and maintain technical narratives, demos, and proof-of-value materials for use by Field CTOs and GSO specialists.
• Demonstrate Splunk’s core platform and AI capabilities through real-world use cases in security and observability.
• Utilize AI tools to enhance content production and ensure quality across customer-facing materials.
• Create executive-grade experiences in partnership with Technical Marketing for key events and customer engagements.
• Act as a strategic advisor within Cisco Innovation Labs, ensuring Splunk is represented in multi-product innovation demonstrations.
• Produce public-source innovation briefings that support safe customer engagement while maintaining roadmap integrity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise security, observability, or large-scale data platforms, with at least 3 years in a customer-facing technical role.
• Proven ability to develop working artifacts, reference architectures, and executive narratives for real customers.
• Proficiency in using AI tools for content creation and research.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

• Deep technical knowledge of Splunk’s platform and AI capabilities.
• Experience in building workflows for SOC, observability, or resilience operations.
• Familiarity with Cisco’s security and networking solutions.
• Experience as a technical storyteller at major industry events.
• Active participation in the Splunk community as a speaker or published author.
