The Lead Project Engineer is tasked with leading teams across various aspects of project execution, including engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning. This role supports project leaders and is responsible for the financial and technical success of assigned project areas.
Responsibilities
•
Coordinate and review inputs from various engineering disciplines, functional departments, and subcontractors for the engineering portion of projects.
•
Ensure the generation of deliverables, reports, and procedures required for engineering.
•
Support management of the engineering portion as directed by the Project Manager.
•
Utilize expertise to solve complex problems by identifying innovative solutions.
•
Manage time effectively to meet objectives and forecast resource requirements.
•
Assist leadership in updating policies and procedures to incorporate digital project delivery.
•
Understand estimates, contracts, and budgets assigned for each function.
•
Collaborate with Project Controls and Contract Management on change management.
•
Act as a liaison between stakeholders, project teams, and subcontractors.
•
Assist in preparing and implementing Engineering Project Execution Plans (PEP).
•
Review the Project Plan with the project planner and prepare subcontract scope packages.
•
Attend Engineering Project Readiness reviews as needed.
•
Establish streamlined policies and procedures for capturing technical changes in the Project Lifecycle Management System.
•
Ensure maximized production of deliverables from authoring tools and databases.
•
Support processes for digitally tracked queries between groups.
•
Attend Weekly Progress Meetings and prepare Minutes of Meetings.
•
Participate in change management meetings to support the project change management program.
•
Monitor the implementation of integrated engineering and digital project delivery, including site travel as necessary.
•
Liaise with Engineering Quality to develop audit procedures for integrated engineering applications.
•
Monitor the effectiveness of policies and procedures and ensure a feedback loop for continual improvement.
•
Keep the Project Information Manager and Center of Excellence informed of all activities and concerns.
•
Travel as necessary for customer and project meetings, resolving engineering interface issues.
•
Attend Technical Quality Audit reviews as necessary.
•
Facilitate reviews of previous projects' lessons learned and ensure documentation in the database.
•
Incorporate internal standards into Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) along with client requirements and industry standards.
•
Contribute to PLM for action tracking and collaboration functionality.
•
Coordinate with Global Project Management and Controls to develop a project execution tool in PLM.
•
Design system test plans and conditions, leading User Acceptance Testing for Project Management/Project Engineering.
•
Drive for resolution until satisfactory test completion.
•
Develop training material for PLM and provide training.
•
Assist in configuring and deploying PLM on new revenue projects as required.
•
Troubleshoot PLM issues and support projects in resolving problems.
