We are seeking a proactive and pragmatic Legal Counsel with a keen interest in supply chain sustainability to join our team. In this role, you will draft, organize, and negotiate various agreements while providing expert legal advice and support to help IDH adhere to applicable laws and regulations, protect its reputation, and achieve its strategic objectives in a compliant and ethically responsible manner.

The Role

As Legal Counsel, your day-to-day responsibilities will include: • Providing legal advice on procurement of services, multi-stakeholder convening activities, intellectual property protection, and commercial contracts. • Acting as the first line of legal support and escalating to specialist counsel when necessary. • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of agreements and contracts. • Ensuring contracts comply with applicable laws and organizational policies. • Identifying legal issues and proposing solutions that balance business interests with risk control. • Collaborating with relevant teams to manage risks tied to contracts and funding. • Contributing to the continuous improvement of legal policies, processes, and templates. • Keeping legal knowledge current and applying it to strengthen organizational practices. • Partnering with internal stakeholders to provide legal input on business decisions and strategy. • Delivering training on legal topics relevant to IDH's operations.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Law. • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience as an in-house legal professional or attorney. • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of international dynamics, business principles, and risk management in a consultancy setup. • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (knowledge of Dutch is appreciated but not required). • Demonstrable knowledge or prior experience in European and national and international law matters.

Nice to Have

• Experience or affinity for technology and data-related legal work (data sharing/licensing, SaaS, IP in data, EU AI Act). • Working knowledge of privacy law and GDPR (e.g., CIPP/E or equivalent).
