EQL Tech is collaborating with Sentinel Bio to find an outstanding Chief Operating Officer to join its leadership team as the organization scales its operations towards a significant mission goal. Sentinel Bio is committed to making pandemics a thing of the past by identifying, funding, and amplifying the most promising initiatives aimed at eradicating catastrophic pandemics over the next decade. Since its inception in 2024, Sentinel has been pivotal in the biosecurity sector, achieving major milestones that help mitigate pandemic risks. The organization has successfully raised nearly $40 million in philanthropic funding and has supported over 70 grants and projects focused on safeguarding AI-driven biology and DNA synthesis.

De rol

As a vital member of the leadership team, you will collaborate closely with the CEO, program leaders, and the Operations Lead to ensure the organizational health of Sentinel. You will represent Sentinel externally and will be trusted to make significant decisions independently.

Serve as a strategic organizational leader, overseeing Sentinel's operational landscape and proactively identifying risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities.

Develop and implement Sentinel's operational strategy, including annual and multi-year plans across finance, HR, compliance, and program operations.

•

Assist in establishing new biosecurity organizations from inception.

•

Collaborate with program leaders to translate strategic priorities into resource plans.

•

Represent Sentinel externally with legal counsel, partners, and stakeholders.

•

Lead recruitment efforts to attract and retain top talent in partnership with the CEO and program team.

•

Build and manage Sentinel's operations function, including direct oversight of the Operations Lead.

•

Manage onboarding, offboarding, compensation frameworks, and employee development across various jurisdictions.

•

Oversee Sentinel's financial health, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management, in collaboration with the Operations Lead and external controller.

Ensure compliance with all relevant nonprofit regulations, working closely with external legal counsel and accountants.

8-12+ years of experience in operations and organizational leadership, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.

Experience in a small organization where operational infrastructure was built from the ground up.

•

Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and nonprofit compliance, preferably with US 501(c)(3) experience.

•

Experience in philanthropic grantmaking or related high-stakes nonprofit sectors (preferred but not mandatory).

Wat we bieden
