The Union Product Database (UPD), available since January 2022, is the first centralized database that contains reliable and validated information on all veterinary medicines authorized at the EU/EEA level. One component, the UPD Public Portal, provides official, up-to-date information on all authorized veterinary medicines in the EU and EEA, in all official EU languages, to the public.

In the rapidly advancing digitalization, the topic of making package leaflets for veterinary medicines available electronically is gaining more attention in the EU. In the spirit of accessibility, transparency, and harmonization across EU/EEA states, EMA is exploring a common platform for electronic package leaflets. This traineeship will integrate with this project by exploring the development of a mobile app for veterinary healthcare professionals and the general public, considering the requirements of various user groups and target audiences.

You will gain hands-on experience at the intersection of animal health, public interest, veterinary clinical practice, and digital product development. You will take on meaningful tasks from the start, working in a supportive environment where learning is encouraged. You will learn how EMA supports Veterinary Medicines Regulation in the EU and EEA and how the EMA communicates information to all interested parties. You will get hands-on experience with EMA's technology stack and gain experience in developing technical solutions.

The traineeship is offered for 10 months (1 March 2027 – 31 December 2027) at the Agency’s premises in Amsterdam, with the possibility for teleworking up to 40% of working time from The Netherlands and occasional teleworking from outside The Netherlands. Traineeships are offered for either full-time or part-time (80% or 50%) if combined with university studies. The Agency pays a monthly stipend of €2,049.77 for a full-time traineeship (reduced accordingly for 80% or 50%) and a travel contribution upon joining the Agency. Each trainee will have a mentor at the Agency who will guide them through the programme. The conditions of employment are stated in the Executive Decision on rules governing the traineeship programme at the EMA.
