The Principal Piping Designer plays a crucial role in enhancing team effectiveness and communication within the Piping Design discipline. You will work autonomously within established procedures, propose process improvements, and lead the design efforts of others.

•

Execute Design and Engineering processes for facilities within specified timelines, adhering to maintenance, safety, and quality standards, while considering constructability and economics during Pre-FEED, FEED, or Detailed Design phases.

•

Develop 3D Models, ensuring they are clash-free in coordination with all other disciplines.

•

Approve drawings, including plot plans, in accordance with project specifications, McDermott Procedures, and Process Design practices.

•

Complete assignments and facilitate the work activities of others.

•

Set priorities and organize work to meet objectives, forecasting and planning resource requirements as Lead Designer.

•

As Lead Designer, lead the design team to complete tasks within the planned schedule and budget, ensuring compliance with standards and project-specific procedures.

•

Act as the project-based discipline point of contact in communications and meetings with the Project Team, Client, vendors, and subcontractors.

•

Address inter-discipline aspects of design and deliverables, supporting the Lead Piping Engineer in measuring progress and productivity.

•

Coordinate 3D Model Reviews and ensure review comments are addressed.

•

Develop Plant Design and 3D Modelling, ensuring compliance with work hours and schedules.

•

Identify issues promptly and follow up with corrective actions, raising change notifications in the Change Management System as necessary.

•

Attend project kickoff, review meetings, vendor meetings, and model reviews.

•

Monitor and coordinate the design team, leading the project in a Multi Office Project Execution Environment (MOPEX).

•

Supervise and support less-experienced team members, ensuring adherence to McDermott requirements, client, and statutory design codes and standards.

•

Assist the Department Manager with Designer appraisals and exercise judgment to identify and solve problems that arise.

A minimum of 10 years of experience with a major contractor or consultant, including 10+ years in oil and gas performing Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design.

•

High School diploma with a qualification in Mechanical Design or Drafting, or equivalent experience.

•

Detailed knowledge of 3D CAD systems, including E3D or SP3D, with experience in at least 1 or 2 projects.

•

Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or AutoLISP.

•

Familiarity with local regulatory environments and international/national industry standards.

•

Capability to lead projects and a general understanding of process equipment maintenance and operation.

•

Programming, 3D Modeling, Menu, and/or Macro compilation skills are advantageous.

•

Flexibility for business travel and assignments.

•

Strong communication skills and knowledge of QA Systems.
