In this position, you will ensure the quality of pressure equipment and welding processes for international EPC projects. Your main focus will be on vendor quality control, which includes reviewing supplier documentation and coordinating inspections at manufacturing sites around the globe.
The Role
You will serve as the primary contact for suppliers concerning QC-related issues and ensure adherence to relevant codes and project specifications. This role demands a strong technical background in welding engineering, along with the capability to independently evaluate and challenge supplier outputs.
Responsibilities
- Develop Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for pressure equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
- Review supplier documentation, including Quality Control Plans (QCPs), welding procedures (WPS/PQR), Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) in compliance with ASME and PED standards.
- Coordinate and conduct inspections at supplier/manufacturer locations worldwide, including leading pre-inspection meetings.
- Act as the main point of contact for suppliers regarding QC concerns, non-conformities, and technical inquiries.
- Instruct and guide local inspectors to ensure effective execution of inspection activities.
- Participate in internal QC and project meetings, collaborating with engineering and procurement teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Certified Welding Engineer or Technologist (IWE/IWT) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role within an EPC or engineering environment, or as a vendor inspector for pressure equipment.
- Proven experience in the inspection and quality control of pressure equipment, including vessels, heat exchangers, and boilers.
- Strong knowledge of welding standards (ASME IX), ASME codes, and PED.
- Ability to technically review and evaluate welding documentation and supplier deliverables.
- Willingness to travel internationally for inspections.
- Strong communication skills in English.
