The School Bus Operations Manager is responsible for providing operational guidance and supervision, managing day-to-day activities, interfacing with customers, and ensuring compliance with reporting mandates. This position serves as the primary point of contact for school officials regarding passenger management, route scheduling, charter activities, driver issues, and logistics. The manager directly supervises all location staff and handles payroll-related matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage fleet and facility requirements.
• Recruit, interview, select, and recommend new hires.
• Enhance operational efficiencies as needed.
• Enforce company policies and procedures, leading by example.
• Oversee daily operations at the location.
• Foster positive relationships with local school district officials, parents, and the community.
• Address and resolve customer complaints promptly.
• Coach and support personnel.
• Implement fair recognition and corrective discipline.
• Assist the district with route and stop locations, ensuring all are approved.
• Help with data entry into the district’s routing system if necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Class A or B CDL with appropriate endorsements or willingness to obtain within 60 days.
• PA School Bus Instructor certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of management-related experience.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels, both internal and external.
• Well-developed supervisory and employee relations skills.
• Proven ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
• Commitment to safety.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience in training, coaching, and leading teams to enhance performance.

Minimum Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
